Spring 2012 Work Picture

As we enter into late March, the members of 146 have been staffing the majority of job calls along with the assistance of Boilermakers, Welders and Apprentice Travel Cards from across Canada. We are also dispatching Non-Member welders with initial Alberta B pressure tickets and CWB stick & Fluxcore.  We strongly believe this trend will continue for at least the next couple of months with all the spring shutdowns scheduled.  Stay in touch with our website, the rumour list (workforecast) and our daily job information lines as the days and weeks go by.

SYNCRUDE SHUTDOWN

The Syncrude (8-3) Coker shutdown that was to commence in early April has now been re-scheduled to early May due to the reluctant need of repairing Coker (8-1).  The Travel Assistance Program (TAP) will be effective as of April 16, 2012.

Please remember to bring a valid government issued photo ID to site or you will not be granted site access.  This is a Syncrude Policy and there are no exceptions.

NEW CONSTRUCTION

New Construction sites such as Kearl Lake, Surmont and Enmax-Sheppard Energy in Calgary are also heading into more agressive hiring as well.  Some of these projects are good for a year or more worth of work.  Check the Callout daily as manpower orders are unpredictable.

NON-MEMBER DISPATCH PROCESS

In late February we revamped our dispatching process for Non-Members to make it easier for them and have more exposure nationally.  Click here for more more information.
