Alberta B Pressure Ticket

(Transfer/Reciprocal Pressure Tickets)

A) The Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA) will issue Alberta B Pressure tickets to welders from other provinces who meet the following two criterias:

Welders must hold a Journeyman Welder ticket with an Interprovincial Red Seal. (A Red Seal number starts with 22-) or completion of apprenticeship and journeyman status from another province.
And
One of the following valid pressure tickets:

*in most cases these tests are performed on a 6", schedule 80, 2G-5G position

Fee for reciprocal ticket $172.00

B) If you have an Journeyman Welder Interprovincial Red Seal ticket or completion of apprenticeship/journeyman status, but no valid pressure ticket from another province?

  1. Make application with ABSA to perform a inital B pressure test at any ABSA testing centre in Alberta.
  2. Bookings are usually made 2-4 weeks in advance.
  3. Test coupon: (6" pipe, sch.80, 2G-5G positions, 6010 Root / 7018 Fill & Cap.)
  4. Fee $235.00

If you don't have an Interprovincial Red Seal ticket or Journeyman welder status from another province?

Occasionally Alberta contractors will authorize a Provisional C Ticket to welders without a Red Seal or journeyman status from another province.  These provisional tickets are vaild for a specified period of time and only good for the contractor that authorized the test.

  1. Must have a pressure qualfication from your home province.
  2. Must provide documentation to provide 3 years pressure welding experience (letters from employer or log book).
  3. Must do a performance qualification test. This test can be completed at the Boilermakers 146 Learning Centre.
