NON-MEMBER JOURNEYPERSON DISPATCH PROCESS
Welcome!
As we enter 2012 work is picking up. An agressive spring for shutdowns and new construction work is before us, click here for our Rumour List. We will be requiring the use of Non-Member Journeyman primarily Pressure Welders.
- All jobs in Alberta require Construction Safety Training System (CSTS)
- Most jobsites require Pre-access Drug & Alcohol testing or RSAP enrollment
Various locations across Canada are available for these tests.
If you’re looking at working through our organization you need to follow the steps below:
To get a job, report in person to dispatch @ 1:00 pm
- We are located at 15220-114 Avenue, Edmonton (click here for map)
- Sign onto the Non-Member “Yellow Binder” Out of Work list in your proper classification. You will need to sign in after every job and at the beginning of each month as this list is deleted at the end of each month.
- Check for work on our web page via “Listen to callout” or “View Callout” or by calling 780-414-6860
- The job callout is updated nightly at 5:00 PM and is designed for a service to our Members. Please note that Union Members are dispatched first and this process does not guarantee you immediate employment. Any jobs unfilled by the Members are then dispatched out to the Non-Members often the same day.
- After completing the morning dispatch with the members the dispatcher normally updates the online callout in the later part of the morning to indicate which jobs will be available for the 1:00 PM dispatch that same day.
- It is important for you to note the time the “Job Posting” was updated.(i.e.: Current Open Jobs Posted at: 2012 01 12 11:00)
- Show up at dispatch at 12:45 with photo ID and Trade tickets. You can check out the dispatch bulletin board for available jobs. The dispatcher will start the Non-Member callout at 1:00 PM.
- Upon being dispatched you will be informed about any further tests or training that the site requires. Most sites require a Pre-Access Drug & Alcohol test. You will also be required to pay a Permit fee of approx $45.00
