Hello Brothers and Sisters of Lodge 146,
We on the Election Committee hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather and working safe out there. Counting day for the election is fast approaching and we wanted to pass on some information.
Second Ballot
Members of the committee will be going to the hall this Friday (June 1st) to do another round of second ballots. We encourage everyone that needs a new ballot to please email us before the 1st at electioncommittee@boilermakers.ca. Any requests after June 1st will be honoured, but there is no guarantee that we can get the ballot to you with enough time for you to return it for counting. All ballots must be received at the post office before 9:00 am on June 12th. After June 1st only 7 business days remain for your ballots round trip, with travel time and post office processing taking the majority of that time. Please do your best to get your requests to us before June 1st!
Email: ElectionCommittee@boilermakers.ca
Please remember that if you request a second ballot, only one ballot can be counted. If more than one ballot was mailed to the specified PO Box, then all ballots will be disqualified.
Eligibilty
Every active member has received a ballot for this election, but eligibility will be determined on the counting day of June 12th.
This means you have until the night of June 11th to make sure that you are paid up on April’s monthly dues and up to death assessment #757.
You can easily check if you are eligible by clicking the ‘Member Login’ button on our website. Click on dues. You will see the below image. The guy in this example is eligible to vote. He has paid up past April, and past the minimum DA of #757.
We know that some people had their dues paid for them by their company, but we encourage everyone to go ahead and pay up their account now and let the check offs cover the next couple of months. This will eliminate any possible hassles that might arise from your ballot not being counted on counting day.
Message to All Candidates
As per the Constitution, every candidate is allowed to appoint an observer to witness the count of the ballots. All observers must be declared either beforehand by the candidates by emailing ElectionCommittee@boilermakers.ca, or on the counting day by giving your observer permission in writing. Both means of correspondence must include both your name and your observers name, as well as both of your registration numbers.
If anyone has any questions please feel free to email the committee at ElectionCommittee@boilermakers.ca
Fraternally,
The Election Committee

Brothers and Sisters of Lodge 146,
Greetings from the 2018 Election Committee. We hope that everyone is working safe out there and making as much money as they can during these spring shutdowns.
We worked diligently for 4 days to prepare and stuff the ballots (all 4081 of them) that you will receive shortly. They were mailed on April 17th at 4pm. City residents should be getting them as soon as Thursday, the 19th.
Contained within the letter are 8 items:
- An instruction sheet with information you must follow to have your vote counted.
- 5 individual ballots which you will mark your vote on.
- An orange envelope where you must place your marked ballots when completed.
- A return pre-paid postage envelope which you will use to send your sealed orange envelope containing your marked ballots back to the Election Committee.
Please read the instruction sheet before you vote.
